Charity Happy Hour at L8 Lounge! – 20s & 30s Going Out Group

*** It’s a great day for happy hour! See you tonight! ***

UPDATE #3: Drink specials are $4 Coronas, $6 house wine, and $8 20s & 30s Superstar drinks!

UPDATE # 2: Per my email, I need volunteers to help sign people in with name tags and to meet / greet folks! First drink is on me. This is a great way to meet people, and help kick start a friendly vibe to the event. I need volunteers to fill 30 minute slots (which goes by very fast) on the hour. If you can help, please send me a message through my Meetup profile (do not post a comment on the event posting) letting me know which top three time slots you prefer, in order of preference!

UPDATE # 1: Looks like this will be a good one! Tell a friend, come on out, meet new people, and help support a good cause! And again, I encourage everyone to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE!

Okay, time to get together for our first happy hour of the year!

Our happy hour will benefit The Dwelling Place, a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing opportunities and support services for families experiencing homelessness to help them achieve and maintain self-sufficiency… requested $5 or $10 cash donation (but not required). www.dwellingplaceinc.org Please note 80% of donations go to The Dwelling Place and 20% of donations will go to the  20s & 30s Going Out Group to cover Meetup fees and expenses.

DJ Saam will be spinning beats for us. Our happy hours typically bring out 100 – 150 folks… and I wouldn’t be surprised with a similar turnout this time around (Note: I’ve been getting this question a lot lately, but please know our 20s & 30s Going Out Group’s RSVP numbers are not inflated with +99 added to the organizer’s RSVP or due to signups from a previous “rotating” or “recurring” event, nor is this event a combination of multiple groups with no relation to each other).

(Meet new people)

If you haven’t been there before, L8 Lounge provides a cool atmosphere and is decorated in a color scheme of dark blue, crimson, purple, and black. The interior leans upscale with chandeliers, lighted mirrors, exposed brick, and tufted white leather walls! 21+

To help continue the friendly tone of this group, I’d like to again encourage each person to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE at this event. To help do this, for an icebreaker, we’ll put your name in a jar as you walk in, and then give you someone else’s name from the jar. Also, 20s & 30s Rockstars please help make all the newcomers feel welcome to our group!

NOTE: I’ve been getting the following question often lately: “Are you affiliated with Mer and his Guys & Girls (20s & 30s) Going Out Group?” No. I’ve never met or spoken with Mer. My group is the original “20s & 30s Going Out Group” and has always been called that, well before his group existed. HIS group was originally called Guys & Girls Night Out. He then changed his group’s name to Guys & Girls Going Out Group, and then again changed it to Guys & Girls (20s & 30s) Going Out Group. We run our groups and events separate and apart from each other; the groups are not associated with one another in any way. I also run the 30s & 40s Going Out Group, Global Travelers Going Out Group, and the eWheel Going Out Group, all of which are also not associated with any of Mer’s groups. Lastly, with the exception of my international trips, none of my events are “joint” events where multiple (often non-associated) groups are invited to the same event.

METRO & PARKING

The closest Metro is McPherson Square Station (Orange, Blue, Silver lines), about a 3 minute walk, and Metro Center (Red, Orange, Blue, Silver lines), about a 6 minute walk. I suggest Metro / cabbing / Uber’ing if you can. I also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don’t forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning.

DRESS CODE

Most people will be coming from work, so business casual will be the norm.

SPECIAL NEEDS

If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let me know in advance (a week or more before the event) and I will do my best to accommodate (message me through my Meetup profile, do NOT comment on the event posting). If you let me know the day of the event, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help. Thank you for understanding and I appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!
