*** It’s a great day for happy hour! See you tonight! ***
UPDATE #4: The beneficiary of this event, Cupid’s Undie Run DC, is offering 20% off of their upcoming run. Use promo code “Cupid2030GOG”
UPDATE #3: Drink specials are $4 Coronas, $6 house wine, and $8 20s & 30s Superstar drinks until 8pm!
UPDATE #2: Per my email, I need volunteers to help sign people in with name tags and to meet / greet folks! This is a great way to meet people, and help kick start a friendly vibe to the event. I need volunteers to fill 30 minute slots (which goes by very fast) on the hour. If you can help, please send me a message through my Meetup profile (do not post a comment on the event posting) letting me know which top three time slots you prefer, in order of preference!
UPDATE #1: Looks like this will be a good one! Tell a friend, come on out, meet new people, and help support a good cause! And again, I encourage everyone to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE!
Okay, time to get together for our first happy hour of the year!
Our happy hour will benefit Cupid’s Undie Run DC, a non-profit organization that hosts a mile run where participants drop their pants and run through the D.C. cold to raise money for research to help end neurofibromatosis, a rare genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body… requested $5 or $10 cash donation (but not required). cupids.org/city/washington-dc. Please note 80% of donations go to Cupid’s Undie Run DC and 20% of donations will go to the 20s & 30s Going Out Group to cover Meetup fees and expenses.
DJ Saam will be spinning beats for us. Our happy hours typically bring out 100 – 150 folks… and I wouldn’t be surprised with a similar turnout this time around (Note: I’ve been getting this question a lot lately, but please know our 20s & 30s Going Out Group’s RSVP numbers are not inflated due to signups from a previous “rotating” or “recurring” event).
If you haven’t been there before, Decades celebrates club culture, DJs, and the greatest hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s, 2000s and the present. Graffiti, gadgets, gear, and more are showcased throughout the space from music’s most exciting eras
To help continue the friendly tone of this group, I’d like to again encourage each person to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE at this event. To help do this, for an icebreaker, we’ll put your name in a jar as you walk in, and then give you someone else’s name from the jar. Also, 20s & 30s Rockstars, please help make all the newcomers feel welcome to our group!
METRO & PARKING
The closest Metro is Dupont Circle – South Exit (Red line), about a 5 minute walk, and Farragut West (Orange, Blue, Silver lines), about an 8 minute walk. I suggest Metro / cabbing / Uber’ing if you can. I also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don’t forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning.
Most people will be coming from work, so business casual will be the norm.
If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let me know in advance (a week or more before the event) and I will do my best to accommodate (message me through my Meetup profile, do NOT comment on the event posting). If you let me know the day of the event, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help. Thank you for understanding and I appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!
