Ski & Snowboard Weekend Trip! – 20s & 30s Going Out Group

<  Click to go back to RSVP & payment page

*** It’s a great weekend for skiing and snowboarding. See you there! ***

UPDATE #7: The email with my cell no. and room no. has been sent to the yes RSVPs. If you do not see my email, check your spam folder, and also make sure your email and Meetup settings allow for you to receive messages from the organizer. If it’s not there, send me a message through my Meetup profile with your cell no. so I can text you back. See you there!

UPDATE #6: I will send out an email Friday morning of the trip with my cell no. and my room no. for you to meet me. Please make sure your email and Meetup notification settings allow for you to always receive messages from the organizer. I’ll be there at 5pm, and I will collect your waiver and give everyone their lift ticket passes, rental forms, and any lesson tickets. You’ll also need to do a pre-trip walk through of your unit and return a form to me with any damages. Just a reminder, please first go to Mountain Top / Top of the World checkin to get your room key before meeting me at my room. Rooms will be ready for checkin at 5pm (see the “Friday Itinerary” section of the trip posting for full details). Please also fill out and bring with you the waiver (see the “Waiver” section of the trip posting). I’ll have extras, but it will help me out greatly if you can fill it out beforehand. If you are running late, please TEXT me. FYI, as of last year, cell phone coverage only worked for AT&T (which I have) at Snowshoe. This UPDATE has also been emailed to the YES RSVPs. See you there!

UPDATE #5: Just a reminder, if you plan to arrive early on the Friday of our trip (before 5pm), please let me know your ETA (send to me a message through my Meetup profile) by Thurs. Jan. 25th so I can let Snowshoe when they can expect you. You’ll go to Mountain Top / Top of the World checkin (down the hall, first door on the right), they’ll give you everything you need to go down the slopes. Rooms will be ready for checkin at 5pm, so if you are an early arrival, you’ll need to leave your belongings in your vehicle or at the front desk of our lodge until then.

UPDATE #4: The trip has sold out. I’ve removed those RSVPs that signed up but never made payment. Only those that have already made payment for sleeping accommodations may purchase additional lift tickets, rental equipment, and lessons moving forward. I’ll see everyone there!

UPDATE #3.5: Pasta’s restaurant no longer exists. As such, the dinner on Saturday night is canceled. Those that signed up for it will receive a refund (sometimes it takes up to a week for you to see the refund come through).

UPDATE #3: We’ve been able to extend the holiday price (on Meetup only) for lodging (see the “Trip Options” section for full details)! The first 25 paid sign-ups, or those who pay by Wed. Jan. 10th (whichever comes first) get the holiday lodging price! After that, the ticket price will follow the regular price increase schedule (see the “Trip Options” section).

UPDATE #2.5: Just a friendly reminder to please send to me your information (see the “Attendee Information” section of the event posting for full details) if you haven’t already. Thank you!

UPDATE #2: There are fewer than 10 “early early-bird” spots left and the price will increase when the “early early-bird” spots are gone or by Thurs. Dec. 28th (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I’ll be removing those that haven’t paid by Sun. Dec. 17th, then every Monday after that, then every day the final week. Make payment to *truly* lock in your spot (see the “Trip Options” and “Payment” sections of the event posting). If you’ve already made payment, the PayPal email you received is confirmation that we’ve received your payment (no need to email me asking for ticket confirmation). This UPDATE has been emailed to the yes RSVPs. I hope to see you there!

UPDATE #1: We’re able to run a holiday special (on Meetup only). Lodging is now $10 off the already discounted price until Thurs. Dec. 28th. After that, the price will follow the regular price increase schedule (see the “Trip Options” section for full details). Anyone who already made payment will receive a refund for the difference.

Let’s get together for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding!

I’ve made special arrangements for our group for a full weekend of skiing / snowboarding at Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort (a ~4 hour drive from DC). With a 4.1 rating on Google Reviews, many reviewers have stated this is the best skiing and snowboarding in the Mid-Atlantic region (I agree). We did this last year and it was a blast!

LODGING

I’ve reserved for us a block of 2 bedroom 2 bath condos at Mountain Lodge (Standard) located right in the heart of Snowshoe Village. This means that it’s easy access to the rental shop, restaurants, and of course, the slopes for direct “ski in / ski out” access (2 chairlifts are right outside our back door!). Each unit has a complete kitchen, dining / living area, interior hallway ski storage, private balcony, free wifi, 24 hour security, restaurant / bar onsite, Direct TV, and our lodge even has it’s own private (gated and free) parking lot out in front. See pictures of our lodge at the bottom of this posting! Rooms are ready for checkin at 5pm.

FRIDAY ITINERARY

We’ll check-in Friday night. We’ll go to Mountain Top / Top of the World Checkin to get our room keys. Then you’ll come to my room (TBA) from 5pm – midnight so that I can collect your waiver and give you your lift tickets, rental forms, lesson tickets, etc. (if you arrive at the resort after midnight, please meet me at Shaver’s Center for breakfast Saturday morning at 9am… I’ll give you everything then). After that, feel free to go enjoy the Village, snowmobiles, snowshoes, snow tubes, or the awesome hot tubs (they close at 9pm) on our own! If you wish to arrive early on Friday to get an early jump on skiing / snowboarding, please let me know your ETA so I can give Mountain Top / Top of the World Checkin a heads up, so they can give you everything you need to go down the slopes (go to Group Sales; down the hall, first door on the right). Rooms are ready for checkin at 5pm.

SATURDAY ITINERARY

Then Saturday morning at 9am, we’ll get together for breakfast at Shaver’s Center. All meal costs are on our own. If you wish to get an earlier jump on the day, by all means, please do. You’ll need to drop off your Waiver form to the Ski Patrol office in the basement of Shaver’s Center in the morning. If you rented equipment, please take your legal-sized form to Expedition Station to pick up your equipment. If you signed up for lessons, you’ll go in front of Shaver’s at the flags.

  • At 1pm, I’d like to do a group photo in front of Shaver’s with our ski / snowboard gear on.
  • At 5pm, we’ll meet at the Coca-Cola Tube Park for a late afternoon of snowtubing (if you signed up for it)! Take the Silver Creek shuttle from Brigham Center to get there. -OR-
  • At 5pm, let’s go to the hot tub Split Rocks Pool (across the street) for a nice steaming soak after a fun day of skiing and snowboarding ($15 fee)!
  • (UPDATE: Pasta’s no longer exists, so this dinner is canceled. Those that signed up for the dinner will receive a refund) At 7pm, if you’d like to join us for dinner, I’ll make reservations for us at Pasta’s (the only restaurant that takes reservations at Snowshoe). Menu includes Ceasar Salad, beverage (iced tea, soda, or coffee), and your choice of the following entrees: Chicken Parmesan, Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce, or Maiale alla Griglia (restaurant reserves the right to make changes as necessary)
  • At 9:30pm, we’ll meet at my room (TBA) for some pre-game activity before heading out at 10:30pm, to Connections nightclub for a night of dancing, music, drinks, mingling, billiards, and fun (there may be a cover charge, it was $10 the last time, but it may be $20 if a popular band / DJ is performing)!

SUNDAY ITINERARY

Sunday morning we’ll do it all over again at Shaver’s at 9am! Again, if you wish to get an earlier jump on the day, by all means, please do. Check out time is 11am, so be sure to return your keys to the front desk of our lodge, and put your bags in your cars before you hit the slopes.

CARPOOLING

If you need a ride, I suggest posting in the comment box below. Likewise, if you can offer a ride, please also post in the comment box with number of people you can accommodate.

ATTENDEE INFORMATION

Please send me a message (through my Meetup profile) with the following information as soon as you’ve secured your spot by making payment (1) Do you have a preferred roommate? If so, please provide full first and last name. If not, we will assign you one (of the same sex). (2) To help us assign roommates and cabins, please provide your sex and sex of any guests (3) If you are renting equipment, what would you like to rent (skis or snowboard)? (4) If you are taking lessons, which lessons would you like, ski or snowboard? (5) To help reconcile Meetup profiles with payments, what is your full name as listed on the credit card or PayPal account used to make payment?

WAIVER

Please fill out and bring with you the following form. Click here. I’ll have extras, but this will help expedite things upon arrival.

PAYMENT

PayPal account not required. Please follow the steps below (if payment by smartphone doesn’t work, please try your computer). Your RSVP is not guaranteed without payment, and your email receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment (please check your spam folder and email settings). You can also log into your PayPal or credit card account online to verify payment. Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. Our events do sell out, so I recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price displayed without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed.

  1. Select “Yes” under “Are you going?” (or select “Change” RSVP to add more guests if you’ve already purchased ticket(s))
  2. Enter the number of guests coming and click “Finish RSVP”
  3. Click “Pay Now” (or “Pay Online Now”) at the top of the event posting near the ticket price per person
  4. Verify correct dollar amount for number of people you’re paying for. Modify if appropriate, click “Pay Now” or “Check Out” button
  5. If you don’t have a PayPal account, click “Pay with a Debit or Credit Card”
  6. If you have a PayPal account, simply log in, and pay as you normally would via PayPal

EVENT CHECK-IN

I will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation email as a backup (if you are not on the list, you will be required to show it). When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the PayPal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver’s license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your PayPal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please log into your PayPal account (it will say “Welcome, [your account name]” at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP’d under someone else’s payment, please use that name for check-in.

REFUND POLICY

Since this event is paid for in advance, all sales are final unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If the event is canceled or rescheduled, an UPDATE will be posted at the top of the event posting, and the UPDATE will also be sent as an email to the yes RSVPs. A full refund will be submitted no later than Wednesday of the following week. For rescheduled events, you must let me know within 3 calendar days of the UPDATE email if you are unable to make the new date… no refunds will be given after that time. Thanks for understanding. =)

TICKET RESELL / TRANSFER

Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell / transfer your ticket to someone else (same sex only if individual spot; if a couple spot, only to another couple or to 2 people of the same sex) if you are unable to attend. I suggest posting in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale / transfer. Work out any payment between yourselves, and have the seller only send me (the organizer) a message through my Meetup profile (do not comment in the comment box of the event posting) letting me know the first AND last name, and Meetup profile URL (if a member) of the person taking your spot (please also copy them on the message). To obtain their Meetup profile URL, go to their profile from the mobile website or your computer (not the app), and copy & paste the URL from your browser. I host a lot of events and groups, so please let me know the event name and group name the ticket transfer is for. You must let me know by the RSVP close time of 9am on the day of the event.

SPECIAL NEEDS

If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let me know in advance (a week or more before the event) and I will do my best to accommodate (message me through my Meetup profile, do NOT comment on the event posting). If you let me know the day of the event, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help. Thank you for understanding and I appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!
