*** It’s a great day for happy hour! See you tonight! ***
UPDATE #4: Drink specials are $4 Coronas, $6 house wine, and $8 20s & 30s, 30s & 40s Superstar drinks until 8pm!
UPDATE #3: Per my email, I need volunteers to help sign people in with name tags and to meet / greet folks! This is a great way to meet people, and help kick start a friendly vibe to the event. I need volunteers to fill 30 minute slots (which goes by very fast) on the hour. If you can help, please send me a message through my Meetup profile (do not post a comment on the event posting) letting me know which top three time slots you prefer, in order of preference!
UPDATE #2: Looks like this will be a good one! Tell a friend, come on out, meet new people, and help support a good cause! And again, I encourage everyone to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE!
UPDATE #1: Due to a large fire that occurred at Eden, we are relocating our event to Umaya, 4 blocks or 2 Metro stops away. The event posting has been updated accordingly.
Okay, time to get together for our next happy hour of the year!
Our happy hour will benefit HelpServe, a Helping Enrich DC nonprofit organization that allows our community to become independent philanthropists by donating in-kind non-monetary items directly to charities to further their mission. It’s a philosophy that avoids having an abundance of items to be used for good causes.… requested $5 or $10 cash donation (but not required). http://www.helpserve.org/ Please note 80% of donations go to HelpServe and 20% of donations will go to the 20s & 30s Going Out Group to cover Meetup fees and expenses.
DJ Saam will be spinning beats for us. Our happy hours typically bring out 100 – 150 folks… and I wouldn’t be surprised with a similar turnout this time around (Note: I’ve been getting this question a lot lately, but please know our 20s & 30s Going Out Group’s RSVP numbers are not inflated with +99 added to the organizer’s RSVP or due to signups from a previous “rotating” or “recurring” event).
(Meet new people)
If you haven’t been there before, Umaya is a contemporary Japanese izakaya restaurant and bar. The exotic décor and live DJs complete the experience. From furnishings to fare, Umaya will envelope visitors into its enchanting sanctuary. 21+
(Socialize some more)
To help continue the friendly tone of this group, I’d like to again encourage each person to have a GOAL OF MEETING 3 NEW PEOPLE at this event. To help do this, for an icebreaker, we’ll put your name in a jar as you walk in, and then give you someone else’s name from the jar. Also, 20s & 30s Rockstars please help make all the newcomers feel welcome to our group!
METRO & PARKING
The closest Metro is Metro Center (Orange, Blue, Silver, Red lines), about a 2 minute walk and Gallery Place – Chinatown (Yellow, Green, Red lines), about a 3 minute walk. I suggest Metro / cabbing / Uber’ing if you can. I also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don’t forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning.
Most people will be coming from work, so business casual will be the norm.
If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let me know in advance (a week or more before the event) and I will do my best to accommodate (message me through my Meetup profile, do NOT comment on the event posting). If you let me know the day of the event, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help. Thank you for understanding and I appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!
